Since tomorrow starts 2019 (no idea how that happened!), I thought I’d reflect on some of my favorite photos & moments from this past year.Read More
For part two of my end-of-the-year review, I thought I’d show some of my favorites from my equine sessions this year!Read More
Earlier this year I started offering lifestyle sessions! I was thinking back on the photos with my family that I loved the most, and those were not the photos where we were all facing the camera and saying cheese. My favorites were of my family doing things together: sitting around talking, playing outside, goofing off, those kinds of moments. This made me think about what kinds of memories I’d like to give my clients, and now here we are!Read More
Jessica & Alex are such a sweet pair, and so much fun! We met for coffee last winter and ended up bonding for two and a half hours over board games, before we finally had to vacate our seats at the coffee shop.Read More
In June, I took a week long trip to Staunton, Virginia to photograph horses. I spent one lovely early morning photographing Kelsey & her two mares, Arwen & Belle! Cool side note: Kelsey is the program director over at Ride with Pride, which is an amazing therapeutic horsemanship program, also in Staunton!
I am honored every time a family invites me into their home to capture their growing family. And when my client is my family, the session gets just that much more special.
As cousins who were lucky enough to grow up near(ish) to each other, Julianne and I grew up having sleepovers at Gramma's house and wreaking havoc on her neighborhood. Oh, and eating all the gooseberries off the bush in her yard. We have lots of memories together, and so of course I was absurdly excited when she asked me to come photograph her and her husband Trey, and their sweet baby boy Robert. Their morning session was perfect, and the rain even stayed away just long enough to let in some absolutely perfect light.
Over the winter, I spent a lot of time thinking about how much I love candids, real moments between couples & families. I started thinking about lifestyle sessions.
If you haven't heard about these sessions before, I'll fill you in! These are way more unposed than regular shoots. They focus on the here & now of your family - what your kids are like, what makes them smile, and how you all interact. It's a day in the life of your family.
Lifestyle sessions are very low-stress sessions. When the background of the session is a place that is familiar to your kiddos - their home, their own backyard - they're already more at ease. If you have a newborn, needing to feed them is super easy - you just go do that and then we continue the session. If your toddler wants to play with toys or run around with the dog, that's fine too!
These are also great for couples too! I'll capture your laughter, the real way you two snuggle, and the way you look at each other when the other isn't paying attention.
In February, I decided I wanted to try photographing them, so I scheduled two in-home sessions - a maternity/couples session and another couples session.
I LOVED THEM.
Then, I had the joy of photographing a sweet family's in-home session, and just last week, another for a close friend of mine, her husband, and her newborn. I'm HOOKED.
So I'm crazy excited to announce I'm officially offering lifestyle sessions. These will be mostly done in your own home, or on your street, your backyard, somewhere important to you, your love, and your family.
Check out what I'm talking about! I'll be blogging the full sessions later but for now, here are some sneaks from those sessions. :)

I don't know about you guys, but I cannot believe we're nearly to 2018, and just a few more hours of 2017 are left! It's been a whirlwind of year. I'm lucky and blessed to be able to do what I love, and I couldn't do any of it without YOU.Read More
Jessica and John's wedding was held on a family farm in southern Maryland, on a Saturday in early November, the same weekend all the trees chose to show off their fall colors. As I drove up the driveway towards the house, I came over the hill and was met with the most beautiful view of the surrounding land, including a peek at the Potomac River.Read More
Oh my goodness, where do I even start? Caroline & Chris are two of the sweetest people you could ever have the privilege of knowing. I was smitten in the first five minutes of meeting them.Read More
I have all the heart eyes and warm fuzzies because of Kristen & Lauren's wedding. Seriously, within a minute of sitting down together in that quiet coffee shop for our first meeting, I knew they'd be great clients and even more amazing friends. <3 I cannot say enough about how wonderful these two are.Read More
Caroline & Chris are getting married this September, so we met up in late March for their engagement session! I already knew I adored these two but hanging out with them that evening further solidified that.Read More
I met up with Kate & Jen in October to photograph their engagement session. From the moment they stood in front of my camera, I knew we were going to make some magic happen together. And now their wedding is next month and I couldn't be more excited for it to be June already! For real, just look at these two. Let's get to the good stuff! Crazy perfect together, right?!Read More
It's not often that I shoot a New Year's Eve wedding, but I was super excited for Katie & Corrina's! How could I not be with a couple as awesome and sweet as these two!Read More
And my goodness, their wedding day was absolutely perfect - albeit a smidge bit warm - and full of laughs and happy tears. It was clear to me that they are each other's' soulmates. It was absolutely lovely to watch how happy and in love they are, and how crazy excited their friends and family are for them and their new life together.
I arrived at the venue and when I opened my car door I was met with humidity of epic proportions, but it didn't even matter. I entered the bridal suite and was immediately greeted with a big hug from a beaming Kiki, and I knew it was going to be an amazing day.Read More
I knew Ashley & Dan's wedding was going to be magical, even before I got an email from Ashley in the week before the wedding that read "looking forward to awesome rain photos!"Read More
With Kiki & Matt's wedding coming up, I thought it was the perfect time for their engagement session to hit the blog!
Okay, can we just talk for a minute about how much I seriously adore these two?! The moment we started talking engagement sessions, the idea of color powder came up! Um, hello, of COURSE!
And it really was as awesome and hilarious as we expected - not just the color powder, but the whole session!
Check it out!
PS - Kiki & Matt - did I MENTION I'm super freaking excited for your wedding?! It's going to be epic. You two are ridiculous amounts of awesome.
And then it happened...
Oh my gosh, these two. Seriously, they were so cute together (AND such troopers, but we'll get to that later).
Their venue was Lavender Heights Bed & Breakfast and oh my gosh how cute it was! I was so impressed by the venue itself, as well as the lovely innkeeper Jenny who greeted me at my car with details about the day.
And then I met Fernanda, and I couldn't get over how lovely she is. And so excited to be getting married to Matt!
I absolutely adored this couple and their sweet little December wedding. I also appreciated their willingness to hike through rainy (and I do mean RAINY) downtown Fredericksburg pre-reception (at Renato's) to take a few photos at Hyperion and in whatever light we could find!
Fernanda & Matt, your wedding was lovely, as are both of you! I wish you the happiest of happiness in your life together! :)
